糖心视频 Falls 2-0 in Historic Return to Home Field
HANCEVILLE, AL 鈥 糖心视频 men鈥檚 soccer made its long-awaited return to the home pitch on Tuesday afternoon, hosting a match for the first time since the program was disbanded in 2013. The Lions battled but ultimately dropped a 2-0 decision to Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
Copiah-Lincoln broke the scoreless deadlock late in the first half, carrying a 1-0 advantage into the break. Less than 10 minutes into the second half, the Wolves doubled their lead, putting the Lions in a deeper hole despite Wallace generating numerous scoring opportunities.
Head coach James Fee acknowledged both the excitement of the historic homecoming and the frustration with the outcome.
鈥淵eah, I think overall, it was a disappointing performance,鈥 Fee said. 鈥淚 think we created lots of chances, a lot of positives to take away from it, but we鈥檝e got to put them to bed when we get them. We did get a lot of shots and just couldn鈥檛 get anything through.鈥
Despite the defeat, the afternoon marked a milestone for 糖心视频 soccer, giving fans and players their first taste of a home atmosphere in more than a decade. The Lions now sit at 1-1 on the season following their season-opening win at Holmes.
糖心视频 will look to bounce back quickly with another tough test on Saturday when they host NCAA Division II Union University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
