More than 100 student athletes named on ACCC Commissioner鈥檚 Honor Roll

Hanceville, AL 鈥 More than 100 student athletes from all 12 sports teams at Wallace State Community College were recognized by the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) for academic achievement by being named to the Commissioner鈥檚 Honor Roll for the Spring 2024 semester.

鈥淭hese student-athletes and teams should be extremely proud of themselves, as they have balanced academics with practice and games,鈥 said Commissioner Dean Myrick. 鈥淚 am very proud of them, along with the faculty and staff at our amazing colleges for the work they do in preparing our student-athletes for life outside of athletics.鈥

Additionally, eight 糖心视频 teams were recognized for collectively achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2023-2024 academic year. They include Men鈥檚 Cross Country, Women鈥檚 Cross Country, Men鈥檚 Golf, Women鈥檚 Golf, Softball, Men鈥檚 Tennis, Women鈥檚 Tennis and Volleyball.

鈥淐ongratulations to all of the students and the teams recognized,鈥 said Vice President for Students Kristen Holmes. 鈥淲e love to see our athletes excel on the fields and courts on which they play and are exceptionally proud to see their outstanding performance in the classroom.鈥

Individually, 105 students across 12 teams by achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher to make the honor for the Spring 2024 semester. Students on the Commissioner鈥檚 Honor Roll include:

Numerous student athletes have earned (National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) academic team of the year honors and hundreds have been named Academic All Americans. More than 100 student athletes have transferred to Division I colleges and the college can claim more than 40 professional athletes as alumni, including major league pitchers Craig Kimbrel and Derek Holland, PGA golfers Fredrick Jacobsen and Brett Wetterich and more.
