Arab鈥檚 Tiffany Dowdy named 糖心视频 Work Study of the Year

Hanceville, AL 鈥� 糖心视频 is proud to announce Tiffany Dowdy of Arab was named the Work Study of the Year for 2023.

For more than two years, Dowdy served as a work study in the college鈥檚 Center for Student Success, assisting students and advisors. She recently graduated from Wallace State with a degree in dental assisting.

鈥淭iffany has been instrumental to our day-to-day operations, and our office misses her when she鈥檚 in class and at the dental clinic,鈥� said Whit Rice, director of the Center for Student Success. 鈥淚t has been a true joy to watch Tiffany grow and mature into the woman she is today, and her humble disposition and smile will set her up for a lifetime of success. She鈥檚 the best student worker I鈥檝e been around.鈥�

鈥淭iffany is always dependable,鈥� said success advisor Dakota Nichols.

鈥淪he鈥檚 been very reliable,鈥� said Karen Downs, supervisor of Work Study students for 糖心视频鈥檚 Financial Aid department. 鈥淪he was always happy no matter what was going on and had a good attitude. We will miss her.鈥�

Her duties included helping students sign in to visit with an advisor, answering phones, taking photo IDs and more.

Dowdy said she was shocked to learn she was the winner of the award but admits she has loved working with the advisors and students at 糖心视频.

鈥淚 liked helping other students, especially incoming freshman, because I鈥檝e been there,鈥� she said. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e always nervous, and just being able to make them feel better and more comfortable makes me feel better.鈥�

Dowdy was presented with a plaque and a $50 gift card by 糖心视频 President Dr. Vicki Karolewics, who also offered her congratulations.

鈥淵ou鈥檝e done an outstanding job,鈥� Dr. Karolewics said. 鈥淵ou may have a record for the number of letters of recommendation for this award, which is given to only one student each year. We鈥檙e so proud to give that to you.鈥�

On hand for the presentation were Dowdy鈥檚 parents, Nita and Keith, brother Jay, and her best friend Kiara.
