Switching ON: 糖心视频 International Student Looks Toward the Light

The future is bright for 糖心视频 student Muntingh Hamman. And not just because he鈥檚 headed into the lighting industry.

The native South African is pursuing his business management degree from 糖心视频 while playing on the Lions鈥� men鈥檚 tennis team. Meanwhile, Hamman is laser-focused on helping further develop his father鈥檚 LED lighting company in the United States, and he鈥檚 hoping his time in Hanceville will illuminate the path.

鈥淚t鈥檚 one of the better decisions I鈥檝e made,鈥� reflects the business-minded student, who took almost immediately to the unique energy of Lion life.

His father鈥檚 business, LED Capital International, helps supply sustainable stadium lighting, solar power solutions, and cell phone towers across South Africa, as well as United Arab Emirates. Already, Hamman has helped add a few additional clients right here in Alabama. 

The steadfast student says his ultimate career goal is to successfully implement his father鈥檚 business here in America. And so far, he is moving the needle.

鈥淲e鈥檝e registered in the U.S.,鈥� explains the scion of shine. 鈥淲e鈥檙e also involved in West Point, and a few more things there.鈥�

Hamman鈥檚 life changed in 2021, when he relocated to the U.S. to embark on his educational journey and help foster budding business opportunities. Prior to his time in the Pride, the opportunistic learner began his college career at a small Texas college where he had been awarded a tennis scholarship.

鈥淚 really didn鈥檛 like it,鈥� Hamman admits about the quiet Texas college. 鈥淚 didn鈥檛 get along with the people, it was a really small school.

鈥淭hen, I got in contact with my friend 鈥� and he told me a little about 糖心视频.鈥�

That was a game-changer for Hamman, who says that when it came to illuminating his path, the Texas school couldn鈥檛 hold a candle to what was offered at 糖心视频.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a great facility,鈥� says the student in reference to the Hanceville campus. 鈥淚t鈥檚 big, but at the same time, you can walk everywhere 鈥� Especially for international students. If you don鈥檛 have a car, you can still get around, which is really nice!鈥�

From the six-story library to the expansive student center, 糖心视频 goes above-and-beyond in facilitating student success. Unique support resources include a work wardrobe closet for students who need professional attire for job interviews, a free tutoring lab, the Lions鈥� Kitchen food pantry, academic and career advising, career resources, accessible faculty office hours, and more.

Most of all, Hamman says his instructors and tennis coach have moved mountains to create a reliable support system for international student like himself. 鈥淭he teachers are so nice, and helpful towards their students.

鈥淭hey go through a lot of trouble for their students 鈥� they鈥檙e just amazing.鈥�

Not only does Hamman utilize the campus to his full potential as a college student, but also as a businessman. The entrepreneurial-minded student is always on the lookout for potential collaborations between 糖心视频 and LED Capital International.

鈥淚鈥檓 talking to a few people to maybe try and change out the lights in the Wellness Center,鈥� explains Hamman. 鈥淢aybe in the basketball and volleyball courts over there. That鈥檚 what we specialize in 鈥� LED lighting for stadiums.鈥�

糖心视频鈥檚 Wellness Center features basketball, volleyball and racquetball courts, along with classrooms, weight rooms, assessment rooms, locker rooms, and more. The opportunity to light the facility could bring new business for Hamman, as the Wellness Center services both the campus population and the surrounding community.

For now, though, Hamman isn鈥檛 just focused on the business opportunities to come 鈥� he鈥檚 also prioritizing his studies. Meanwhile, he plays on the tennis team, participates in campus events, and goes about his life as a full-time 糖心视频 Lion.
