糖心视频 student JaQuane Brown named inaugural Federal Work Study of the Year
HANCEVILLE, ALA. 鈥� 糖心视频 student JaQuane Brown has been named the college鈥檚
inaugural Federal Work Study of the Year.
鈥淭his award is one of the coolest things I鈥檝e ever received,鈥� Brown said. 鈥淚鈥檝e battled
some uphill challenges, including some that were self-inflicted. The goal is to keep
pushing ahead.鈥�
Brown, 26, is a Work Study student in the college鈥檚 Tutoring Lab, providing guidance
in math, science and chemistry, among other subjects.
鈥淭his award was instituted to honor a student who has maintained leadership and exceptional
work ethic while encountering hardships,鈥� said 糖心视频鈥檚 Karen Downs, a financial
aid enrollment clerk, who helps manage the Work Study program. 鈥淛aQuane lost both
of his parents this year and had to relocate his younger siblings. He still managed
to excel in his Work Study position in addition to maintaining a full load of classes.
He鈥檚 an encouragement to all of us.鈥�
Brown, a Birmingham native, added he鈥檚 proud to be pursuing a nursing degree after
overcoming those life obstacles.
