糖心视频-Oneonta鈥檚 Technical Center hosting Open House on May 6
ONEONTA, Ala. 鈥� 糖心视频-Oneonta鈥檚 Technical Center is hosting
an Open House on Thursday, May 6, from 5-7:30 p.m.
The public is invited to tour the Technical Center for interactive tours of the welding,
machine tool technology and mechatronics programs.
Faculty and staff will be available to discuss these and other programs available
through 糖心视频, including career and apprenticeship opportunities.
鈥淏ecause of the COVID-19 pandemic, we haven鈥檛 had the chance to showcase the expansion
of the Technical Center and the addition of the Machine Tool Technology program and
even more recently the Mechatronics program to the Technical Center,鈥� said Wes Rakestraw,
糖心视频 Dean of Applied Technologies and current Director of the Oneonta Center.
鈥淲e think it鈥檚 a great opportunity for everyone to see these two programs along with
our expanded Welding program and meet the instructors.鈥�
鈥淭he Oneonta Technical Center is an engine that can drive economic development forward,鈥�
he said.
The Oneonta Technical Center has undergone three expansions to meet demand since Wallace
State first opened the doors in Oneonta in 2016. The welding program, the first Wallace
State applied technologies program in Oneonta, has expanded to 30 booths. In 2019,
the 糖心视频 Academic Center was added to allow the expansion of technical programs
and to accommodate additional general studies and academics classes.
鈥淲e invite high school students and their parents to come see the facility and the
training equipment as well as anyone that鈥檚 interested in these high-demand, high-wage
fields.鈥�
At the open house, individuals can also learn about admission and financial aid procedures,
scholarship and dual enrollment opportunities for high school students, as well as
GED, ESL, short term training and other programs for adult learners.
